Facebook Platform Explosion

Of course you’ve heard of Facebook. Perhaps you even have an account. Lots of people do. And lots of people visit Facebook every day (to the tune of 11 billion page views per month).

Just over a month ago, Facebook launched an API that lets developers create applications that can be used on the site. There has been a flurry of activity since the API was released. Today a Facebook user told me he hates Facebook applications because there are too many and he keeps getting invited to try new applications.

It will be interesting in a couple of months to see which applications are the must-haves for your Facebook page. That will tell us how good of a job the FB team has done in creating a useful and extensible platform.

(If you’re a Facebook user, what’s your favourite application?)

I’ve heard the same thing. Interesting, but it seems there are al lot more people using the applications than complaining. It sure is something to pay attention to.

some of them are ok. but now it seems facebook is turning into myspace, everyday i get a request to join some crappy application and its not as if there even original, there is about 3 different versions of a type of application eg..supker poke, X Me, Do anything to him/her – which are all variations of the original facebook ‘poke’.
